Compost Giveaway: Oct. 24, 2026 On Saturday, October 24, 2026, the City of Hayward will offer Hayward households free compost during the City’s Fall Compost Giveaway. Community members can visit the parking lot of the former Skywest Golf Course at 1401 Golf Course Road from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. to receive four bags of locally produced WM EarthCareTM Homegrown Compost. There is a limited supply of compost, so it will be offered only while supplies last. This event is offered to Hayward households as part of the City’s Franchise Agreement with Waste Management of Alameda County. The compost is made in part from food scraps and yard trimmings collected from Hayward residents. A waiver must be signed in order to receive compost.
