Reader Support and Donation Transparency: What VINI Support Is For

A reader-service note separates journalism support from program donations and names the newsroom costs that reader backing helps cover.

Reader support should be easy to understand before anyone clicks a button.

VINI support funds journalism work: records requests, document processing, field checks, source-protection workflows, accessibility improvements, corrections infrastructure, hosting, publication maintenance, and editor time. It is separate from donations to public programs, charities, service providers, legal organizations, or individual sources.

That separation matters. A reader who wants to support safe-parking participants should follow the official program or charity channels identified by the relevant public source. A reader who wants to support VINI’s reporting, verification, and publishing infrastructure should use VINI’s reader-support path.

The site will continue to label those paths distinctly so support, subscription, tip submission, and source handoff do not blur together.
